Handwriting & Artistic Writing Competition

# The brain engages differently when we write something by hand as opposed to typing it on a keyboard or by touching a screen.# Our school organized a 'Handwriting Competition' of class I to V and 'Creative Writing Competition' for the students of class VI to X on the 24th April 2021 through MS Team Online Sessions. Around 300 students in handwriting and 122 students in Creative writing took part with enthusiasm and innovation.


Selection was based on their houses by the House In-charges. The Green house, Blue house, Yellow house & Red house were the participants in the competition. Each group consist of 7 to 8 students. The houses submitted their ‘Video Compilation’ of their Patriotic singing in the best, beautiful and creative manner possible. Our Rev. Father Ashok judged the competition and praised the effort of students and house in–charges.


Registration was done online through MS Forms in which around 138 students registered. The competition was conducted for one hour from 9 am to 10 am, where great number of students participated. It was a fun filled competition where the students showed their creativity and enthusiasm with motivation provided by the in-charge teachers and made beautiful and innovative things using waste.

Celebration of Reading Week 2020

International Literacy Day is celebrated every year on 8th September to highlight the importance of literacy for individuals and the societies as well as the need for augmented efforts towards more literate societies.Recognising the importance of reading and to mark the occasion of International Literacy Day, CBSE announced Celebration of Reading Week from 8 th September to 14th September 2020. Activity Conducted: The following are some of the activities, which our school has taken up to celebrate the Reading week and promote reading habits among students. 1. Scheduling an online session with an author, poet or storyteller to bring reading to life and to inspire students to read more. Synopsis: Online Reading Week Session with an author was conducted on 12 September 2020, Saturday for classes IX and X. Fazayal Shabbir, author of the renowned book ‘City Under Curfew and other stories’ facilitated the 2 hour session with the students and teachers through MS Teams App. The students showed passion and enjoyed the session. They were encouraged to read books of different genre. They understood the importance of reading and were inspired to read more. It was overall a very interactive session where students participated enthusiastically. 2. Encouraging students to discover the joy of reading books of their interest available in their homes or on internet. Synopsis: Students were encouraged to read and given chance to read aloud in the online session of reading books of their choice. While the facilitator appreciated and encouraged everyone to read few lines from their favourite book or stories available with them Facilitator teacher also gave them ideas on how they can make use of online available reading materials and e books. This session was conducted online through MS Teams App from 8 th to 14th September 2020 for classes III, IV and V in different languages viz. Hindi, English and Marathi during subject classes


Freedom in the Mind, Faith in the words … Pride in our souls … Independence was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect atSanthome Public School.The ceremony started at 8 AM in the school open ground with few staff.The Principal welcomed the gathering and to Commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, Principal unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom.The students of Choir group sang the Patriotic song that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our Mother Land.Fr.Peter addressed the gathering and given a beautiful message to students.The Programme concluded up with the Vote of thanks by Sreethaja of class 8.Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.


‘Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.’ On the occasion of Teachers’ Day on 5th September 2020, there was a online event conducted at Santhome Public School, to express our love and admiration for our staff. Due to the ongoing pandemic crisis, the events were conducted online.Principal appreciated the efforts of each teacher and their contribution towards the students and school especially during this present crisis. A special musical and dance performance by students added spark to the programme.The online celebrations were a small expression of gratitude and love for the wonderful vocation of the teacher and the presence of a dedicated staff on the campus. The teachers were very grateful to the school management for conducting the ‘Online Teacher’s Day Celebration’ and making them feel special.


St Thomas day was celebrated on 3 rd July with beautiful online programme.The programmes were able to bring back the Holy memories of St Thomas.We got a glimpse of his life from the beautiful song and the video presentation.All students participated very actively.

Workshop on traffic rules and road safety 2020

A workshop on traffic rules, road safety and drug addiction conducted for the students of classes VIII and IX on 08/01/2020 by the Mira Road Police, as a part of an ongoing safety campaign. They informed the students that owning to the violation of traffic rules on roads by underage driving roads have become very unsafe, especially for school children. They presented shocking statistics connected with road rage. A very useful and timely programme. They presented shocking statistics connected with road rage. According to Road Accident Statistics India 1214 road crashes occur every day in India. 20 children under the age of 14 die every day due to road crashes in the country. One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 people die on Indian roads every hour. They made students aware of the newly passed Road Safety Juvenile Driving Laws. According to the recently implemented Road Safety Bill 2016 the guardian /owner shall be deemed to be guilty in cases of offences by the juveniles and juvenile shall be tried under JJ act. The representatives from the Police appealed to the students to follow traffic rules to maintain safety for one and all.

The art and science exhibition 2019-20

Genius is when an idea and the execution of that idea are simultaneous - Albert Einstein The Art and science exhibition for the year 2020 was conducted at Santhome public school on Saturday 25-1-2020 and it emulated the hope and aspirations of our children in becoming the geniuses of tomorrow. Many people have a misunderstanding about learning arts and crafts as they think it is meant for non-scholastic areas but in reality Art and Craft has become an important aspect of modern education and anyone can take up these as a specialized subject for making a career. The tiny tots of santhome public School poured out their creativity and talent at the Art and Science exhibition held at the school on saturday. Children of Grade nursery to X participated in the exhibition that brought out the latent skills of the children The exhibits of science were displayed in the different class rooms which enabled the children to display their interest and understanding of Science. Students of grades 1 and 2 presented their beautiful models based on the various topics they learn in the class. Students of grades 3 to 10 actively participated in the exhibition by demonstrating various experiments and presenting their working models which also included some ecofriendly models like solar bottle light and eco cooler. The students presented their investigation projects with the support of project display boards. Students also displayed different scientific games and quizzes which exhibited their knowledge and interest in science. The Art Department showcased collage work, blow painting, block printing, vegetable printing, mosaic art, thumb printing and spray printing. Deeply immersed in their own creative world, children described their works to the visitors under the guidance of the teachers. The exhibition was held to provide a platform for children to display their knowledge, creativity, investigative skills and talent. It also boosts their confidence when they get appreciation for their creative talent.Parents and visitors were invited to motivate our student's venture and they gave a positive feedback on the same. The exhibition was a fun and enriching one which motivated the children to give their best.

Annual Sports day 2019-20

Annual Sports Day 2019-20 ''Sports has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire, it has the power to unite people in a way that little else does'' The much awaited Annual Sports Day was held on Saturday 21th December 2019, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The programme began with the Principal Fr Jiby Antony welcoming the esteemed gathering and emphasized on the importance of sports in a child's life.

Christmas celebration 2019-20

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION ''Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas'' Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring.Soaking in the spirit of Christmas tiny tots of Santhome celebrated the festival with enthusiasm. The school was beautifully decorated and the students sang melodious carols and danced beautifully to wish their teachers and classmates.

Carol Singing Competition 2019-20

''Christmas will always be as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand.It is the most wonderful time of the year.Christmas is not just a day,it's a frame of mind.Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection''. The month of December brings abundant warmth and hope. It is, after all, a time of celebration, with Christmas to colour the cold and grey winter. The cheer of Christmas was celebrated with vigour and zeal by students of Santhome Public School, on Saturday (14/12/2019).The competition engaged students in singing carols that set the mood and built anticipation among all. The word carol actually means dance or a song of praise and joy. Students of all houses sang a variety of carols enthusiastically and melodiously, spreading the message of faith, happiness and peace.


The existence and successful survival of ‘Democracy ‘in such diverse conditions is the most celebrated fact about our country and constitution is its backbone. To reinforce the significance and importance of constitution the government of India declared 26th of November as Constitution Day by a gazette notification in remembrance of the Father of Indian Constitution, Dr. B R Ambedkar. The occasion was also celebrated in the premises of School in all its solemnity. It was marked by the conduct of a ‘Special Assembly’ by the students. The celebration started with very apt words as the thought for the day “The flavor of tricolor should not be depicted only through our words but also through our actions.’’ This worthy thought was followed by an oath on preamble taken by the students. The Preamble is indeed a way of life which recognizes liberty, equality and fraternity as the principles of life and which cannot be divorced from each other. The students pledged their loyalty to the motherland with patriotism and pride in their hearts by reciting the Preamble Pledge led by Anamika Acharya of class IX. The programme ended with the singing of the School Anthem. The assembly ground echoed with the words” we the people of India…………..’’A


In an attempt to promote fitness among school children, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized a celebration on fitness week in November as a part of Fit India Movement. The prime objective of the initiative is to bring about a behavioral change in school children from spending "Passive Screen Time" to "Active Field Time". Santhome also celebrated Fitness Week as the part of Fit India Movement. According to the circular no ACAD68/2019, our school is also conducted different activities like Morning Assembly –Yoga for All, Morning Assembly-Free hand exercise to all, Mental Fitness activity like lecture, competition, and essay on fit India school. Staff and students actively participated in the celebration. Lecture on mental fitness presented by Dr Dinu Thomas, Psychologist. She conducted different types of games and activities for students to make them more interest in sports and caring of mental and emotional health. Activities undertaken during the Fitness Week Celebration: Day 1 Morning Assembly – Yoga for all Day 2 Morning Assembly – Free hands exercise for all Day 3 Mental Fitness Activities (Ex. Debates, Symposium, Lectures by Sports Psychologists) Day 4 Beginning of “Fitness Assessment” of Students through KHELO INDIA App. Day 5 Poster making Competition for all Students on theme “Fit Body – Fit Mind – Fit Environment” Day 6 Physical Activities for all Students including Dance, Aerobics, Yoga, Martial Arts, Rope-Skipping, Gardening etc

Club Activities 16-11-2019

‘’Creativity is an important now in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status’’ We guide students to discover and create their own understanding. Besides academics, co scholastic activities form an integral part of the school curriculum. Students of Grade III to X actively participated in club activities on 16-11-2019.

Fancy Dress Competition 2019-20

‘’Clothes make a statement. Costumes tell a story.’’ Scholastic and Co – scholastic activities have an equal importance in school programme for all round development of the child. Keeping this in mind….Santhome organized a Fancy Dress Competition for the students of pre-primary. It was one of the most exciting event for the tiny stars of pre-primary to dress up like their favorite animals or fruits or cartoon characters. The little talented power houses of Santhome, put a spectacular cross-cultured fancy dress fiesta on 16th November 2019. Our tiny tots showcased immense confidence and grace and faced the audience without any inhibitions. They came out with many new and creative ideas. Children dressed up in their colorful costumes and spoke a few sentences on the character that they depicted.

National Educational Day 2019-20

November 11 is the National Education Day. The day is observed every year on November 11 to commemorate the birth anniversary of first Union Minister of Education Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. To commemorate National Education Day, Santhome organized cards making and slogans writing on the importance of education. Students actively participated in the programme.
